Front-End Software Engineer – Surgical Robotics; m​/f

As a Front-End Developer, you’ll be responsible for creating intuitive, reliable, and high performance user interfaces for our surgical robotic platform. Your work will directly support surgeons in mission-critical environments, where clarity, responsiveness, and safety are essential

You’ll collaborate closely with UX designers, robotics engineers, and clinicians to translate complex robotic functionality into elegant, user-centered interfaces that perform flawlessly in the operating room.

• Develop and maintain the frontend user interface of our surgical robotic system using Python and PySide6 (Qt)
• Implement responsive, real-time visualizations and controls for robotic systems
• Collaborate with UX designers to translate user research and design concepts into production-ready interfaces
• Work closely with backend and robotics teams to integrate frontend components with control and data systems
• Ensure usability, reliability, and performance in safety-critical environments
• Maintain clean, scalable, and well-documented frontend code
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to frontend architecture decisions
• Support software testing, validation, and certification processes (e.g. IEC 62304, ISO 14971)
• Contribute to improving frontend development workflows and best practices

• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• Strong proficiency in Python 3, with the ability to produce clean, maintainable, and high-quality code
• Experience with PySide6 / PyQt or Qt (C++) for desktop UI development
• Experience with VTK for 3D visualization and viewing
• Experience developing software for complex, distributed, or real-time systems
• Autonomous and proactive mindset: able to investigate, reverse engineer, test, and understand systems independently without waiting for detailed direction
• Strong problem-solving skills and curiosity, with a genuine eagerness to learn and take on technical challenges
• Comfortable participating in code reviews and contributing to a collaborative engineering culture focused on continuous improvement and software quality
• Familiarity with Git and structured software development workflows
• Good understanding of software testing and maintainability practices
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams

• Interest in robotics, Med Tech, or safety-critical systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Professional experience in software engineering or software development is a plus
• Experience with ROS is a plus
• Experience working in medical devices is a strong plus
