Position OverviewThe Accounting Technician supports the accounting and finance team in performing day-to-day accounting operations. This role involves processing invoices, reconciling accounts, assisting with month-end and year-end procedures, and maintaining accurate financial records. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to grow in a collaborative environ ment that values accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Process daily cash receipts from tenants accurately and on time.
- Prepare and issue manual invoices for tenants billed separately for taxes, insurance, or other recoverable expenses.
- Handle direct chargebacks to tenants, ensuring all charge back expenses have been billed to the tenants monthly.
- Obtain, code and scan all utility and telecom invoices and submit them to payables.
- Run the rent roll and rent roll modification for the properties and be able to explain the variance by referring to the tenants’ leases.
- Reconcile bank accounts, and tenant ledgers.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Support the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role, preferably within the commercial real estate industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience with accounting or property management software such as Yardi.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Solid communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Proactive, reliable, and committed to meeting deadlines.
