Labourer – Grading Construction

Overview:A Labourer on our Grading Construction Crew is responsible for assisting in the preparation and leveling of ground surfaces for construction, road building, and site development projects. This role supports supervisors in ensuring that surfaces are graded accurately according to project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Assist with site preparation, including clearing, leveling, and grading of soil, gravel, and other materials.
- Work alongside equipment to ensure proper ground elevation and slope.
- Use hand tools and small equipment to fine-grade surfaces and prepare areas for paving, roadways…etc.
- Install and maintain grade stakes, string lines, and markers to guide grading operations.
- Load, unload, and distribute construction materials as directed.
- Conduct site clean‑up and maintain an organized and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Communicate effectively with crew members, and supervisors, to ensure efficient workflow.
- Assist with inspections to ensure grading work meets project specifications and standards.
- Previous experience in construction, road building, or site grading is considered an asset.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Physically capable of performing manual labour including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of grading practices, construction tools, and safety procedures.
- Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license

The hourly range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $27.00 and $35.00 per hour. However, the range offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
