Instructor Creative Arts & Media

Muskoka Woods is a Christian youth development organization that welcomes everyone to an experience for a lifetime. We are located on the shores of beautiful Lake Rosseau and specialize in summer camp, school trips, group retreats and leadership development for all ages. We exist to inspire youth to shape their world.

The Arts & Athletics team is behind all the amazing activities guests get to do everyday. They’re all about inspiring youth to try new things, fostering skill development, building confidence and of course, having fun!

Creative Arts & Media Instructors are responsible for leading fun and safe activities that help our guests learn new skills, make friends, and have an awesome time! Instructors run activities from 9am to noon and 2pm to 5pm each day, bringing high energy and quality instruction to their area. These activities include photography, creative arts & crafts, screen printing and coding.

Instructors will learn to lead in each of these activity areas and rotate activities they will instruct throughout the summer. Each day kicks off and wraps up with team meetings, plus setup and cleanup of their area. Heads up: all instructors also help out with our Stayover Program by leading activities, staying in guest cabins as a stayover counsellor, and pitching in with a cleaning crew.

They also assist with evening programs where assigned and participate in Sunday Arrivals. Instructors will also be assigned as transportation staff on at least one Saturday or Sunday throughout the summer.

Staff are required to attend all meetings as outlined during staff training including Cadence and Small Group.

Muskoka Woods is looking for staff whose personal values match the MW Core Values which includes having a passion for working with children and youth.

Instructors must be able to facilitate and instruct their area of assignment as well as manage group dynamics, build relationships and create a safe yet fun activity experience. Staff must be able to manage their time well, have excellent attention to detail, and be wise in decision making. Staff must be supportive, patient, energetic and have good communication and interpersonal skills with children.

Previous experience with children and youth is preferred.

Creative Arts & Media instructor applicants must have a passion for the arts (content creators, creative arts & crafts, screen printing & podcasting) and have proven skill and experience.

$110 - $140 per week plus room and board

Each instructor who commits their entire summer will qualify for a $300 bonus to be given at the end of the summer. Exceptions will apply for high school students & first year post-secondary school for Staff Week & Classic.

• Be able to help guests and staff in emergencies
• Have the strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of guests and/or staff
• Have the ability to travel around camp with guests
• Join in on activities for 6 to 8 hours a day
• Lead both small and large group activities
• Communicate clearly and effectively with staff and guests

• All staff are required to uphold the Muskoka Woods Vision and Mission, Core Values and Aspirations, as well as all policies and procedures as outlined during our Staff Development Week held at the beginning of your contract.
• All staff stay in shared staff accommodation.
• All Staff are required to live on property in Rosseau, Ontario for the duration of their contract.
