ABOUT THE JOB
Are you a project manager or senior project technologist with experience in managing civil and/or marine infrastructure projects and want to take on new challenges? You will definitely have an interest in this job opportunity!

Work environment
The SCH team is a stimulating, dynamic and operational environment. We are responsible for the management and maintenance of a network of commercial fishing harbours. We are ensuring that essential harbours for the fishing industry remain open and in good condition. The facilities are highly diverse and include wharves, breakwaters, boat launch ramps, floating docks and walkways.

The Senior Project Technologist (EG-06) will act as a project lead maintenance and on major multi-million dollar projects. He/She will also be responsible for the dredging of several harbours for small boats.

Intent of the process
The current need is to fill a term position in Quebec City. A pool of candidates could be established and used to fill similar positions with varying tenures of employment and language requirements within the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

  • Travel within the post area, including to remote locations by various means of transportation (for example, small and large aircraft, all-terrain vehicles, boats, helicopter, etc.)

EDUCATION
  • Technical College diploma (post-secondary or CEGEP) in civil engineering technology, architectural technology, construction management, surveying or any other related field.
EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in providing technical services, engineering advice and advice in support of design, construction, maintenance or repair of civil or marine infrastructure or portions of infrastructure.
  • Experience in planning, monitoring and project management of civil or marine infrastructure construction projects.
  • Experience in the preparation or revision of plans and specifications and in contract management including negotiation and litigation management with engineering service providers and construction contractors. Project management means: the identification of project objectives, needs, issues and risks, the planning and monitoring of budgets and schedules, as well as accountability in relation to the management of civil or marine infrastructure.

ABILITIES
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, deliver and manage civil or marine infrastructure construction projects.
  • Ability to draft tender documents, prepare cost estimates and schedules for construction projects.
  • Ability to manage contracts or technical mandates and manage contractual disputes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally.
