The Claim adjuster – Liability, is responsible for managing and handling civil liability claims across multiple lines of business, including automobile, personal property (home), and commercial insurance. The role involves taking full ownership of complex and litigated files, including matters brought before Small Claims Court and arbitration proceedings.

The CR is required to review and reassess liability positions taken on claim files, evaluate exposure, and determine the appropriateness of alternative dispute resolution methods, including negotiation and settlement. The role also involves supporting insured clients throughout the various stages of litigation, ensuring clear communication, strategic guidance, and effective file management.

How you will create impact:

  • Investigate, interpret coverage, reserve adequately, negotiate and settle automobile, property, farm and commercial claims with minimal unit specialist involvement.
  • Solid understanding of civil liability principles to ensure fair, efficient, and cost-effective resolution of claims
  • Multi lined adjuster:
    Automobile, property and commercial/farm
  • Expert negotiation and influencing skills – with clients, claimants, lawyers and vendors to reach claims settlements
  • Expert conflict resolution - ability to resolve conflicts or disagreements in a mutually beneficial way.
  • Critical Thinking-Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Provide quality client service to our clients in accordance with claims service standards.
  • To join our team:

  • The claims adjuster license from the AMF is required.
  • A college degree in insurance or a related field is required.
  • Legal experience and civil code knowledge is required.
  • Understanding of building constructions methods and Building code of Québec is required.
  • Arbitration experience and dispute resolution is required.
  • Proficiency in both English and French is essential to the main duties in this role, including servicing and communicating primarily with majority anglophone and francophone clients, groups, and teams. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.
