Job Description & How to Apply Below
Ctrl's stack spans robotics fleets, autonomous docks, geospatial processing, and operational software used in the field every day. It needs a technical leader who can hold the whole system in their head — and make it faster, safer, and simpler.
As Director of Technology you'll own the technical roadmap across Operate, OODA, Air Base, and the Data Store: architecture, engineering velocity, platform reliability, and the build-vs-integrate calls that decide what we ship next.
Note:
This is a player-coach role. You'll write code, review designs, and stand next to operators when systems meet the real world.
- Own the technical vision and architecture across Ctrl's product lines.
- Lead and grow the software and data engineering team; set the bar for quality and speed.
- Make platform decisions — autonomy integrations, edge compute, cloud infrastructure, security posture.
- Translate field and client feedback into a ruthless, sequenced roadmap.
- Own reliability: uptime for docks, pipelines, and client-facing systems.
- Represent Ctrl's technology with clients, partners, and government stakeholders.
- 8+ years in software/robotics engineering with 3+ years leading teams.
- Track record shipping production systems that touch hardware — robotics, IoT, aerospace, or similar.
- Depth in at least two of: geospatial pipelines, autonomy/robotics integration, cloud platforms, edge compute.
- Comfort operating in a startup: ambiguity, speed, and hands-on-keyboard leadership.
- Strong communicator across engineers, operators, and executives.
- Eligibility for Canadian security clearance preferred.
Résumés don't fly missions. If the work fits and the checklist doesn't,
Why Join UsWe keep the team small and the stakes high. At Ctrl, you'll:
- Work on systems that fly, drive, and dock in the real world — not demos. Our platforms run missions for energy, government, and security operators today.
- Own outcomes end to end. Small team, short chain of command, and direct access to the people making the calls.
- See your work in the field within weeks, not quarters. We build, deploy, and learn on real sites in real conditions.
- Grow with the deployed fleet — as the network of docks, sensors, and missions scales, so does your scope.
- Competitive salary with equity participation
- Health and dental coverage
- Field kit, certifications, and training on us
- Performance-based equity top-ups as the company grows
