Job Description:
Reporting to the School Principal, this position is responsible for the school bus operation to
ensure the safe and on-time delivery of students to and from their schools and land-based
learning camps, as well as to and from other KTCEA sanctioned extra-curricular events and
activities.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid Class 1 or Class 2 License and “S” endorsement
- Bus Driver Training Provided
- Minimum one (1) year of bus driving or one (1) year of experience driving a Class 1 vehicle
- Completion of a Defensive Driving Program
- Ability to operate vehicles in a safe and efficient manner
- Fluency in Cree an asset
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of First Nations culture, organizations and
communities - Ability to perform basic mechanical checks to ensure vehicles are in a safe operating
condition and properly maintained - Good interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to deal with KTCEA staff, students and parents in a respectful manner
- Ability to deal with disruptive passengers and address conflicts between students riding
on his/her vehicle - Ability to use computer software as required by the role
- First Aid, CPR and WHMIS certification
Conditions of Employment: RCMP/Police Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and Child Welfare Intervention Record Check (formerly Child Welfare Check, CWIS) submitted prior to commencement of employment.
