Summary
This position performs highly responsible customer service and accounting clerical work for the Finance Department.
ResponsibilitiesThis position provides front‑line customer service for City of Lawrence Utility accounts and Solid Waste operations. It assists with clerical work and maintains confidential records in support of billing City of Lawrence Utility accounts. This is a fast‑paced office environment with high call volume.
QualificationsEquivalent to completion of the twelfth grade is required. A minimum of six months of experience or training in customer service and cash handling. This position requires previous customer service and computer experience; previous billing or accounting experience, with strong working knowledge of MS Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, is preferred. Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills, strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail, trustworthiness, and ability to keep up with the fast‑paced setting are critical in this role.
The ideal candidate is extremely reliable, self‑motivated, a team player, and enjoys solving problems.
The successful candidate must pass a background check and post‑offer physical and drug screen.
