JOB SUMMARY: Provide dental hygiene and dental education/prevention services to expand present services accessible to all adults and children seeking these services.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Provide dental hygiene services with available personnel.
• Administer and perform chairside dental hygiene services, including educational and therapeutic preventive services and routine dental prophylaxis.
• Consult with the Indian Health Center's dental staff on periodontal disease prevention and treatment.
• Understand and adhere to Indian Health Services policies and procedures, and DHHS standards of conduct.
• Educate patients and guardians on dental disease processes, oral health principles, and age-appropriate oral care methods.
• Provide periodontal services such as root planning, curettage, charting, radiographs, and coronal polishing.
• Manage time effectively to see 6-8 patients daily, ensuring efficiency in hygiene and infection control procedures.
• Maintain and sharpen instruments, and clean and restock the dental unit daily.
• Expose and process radiographs, assist with oral examinations, and support the hygiene recall system.
• Refrain from personal business during clinic hours.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

• Completion of an accredited dental hygiene program, with a degree or certification.
• Valid, unrestricted dental hygiene license.
• Background check required.

SECURITY CLEARANCE:

• Public Trust clearance.
