Position Overview

The Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards (SCCS) at the University of Kansas (KU) works to address incidents of non‑academic misconduct on campus and educates students about the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities. SCCS seeks to foster a holistic learning environment through education focused on community membership and standards.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards, the Restorative Justice Program Coordinator for Student Conduct and Community Standards develops and implements a full range of resolution options designed to address incidents within the KU community, including diversion processes, restorative justice (RJ) circles, conferences, mediations, etc. The Coordinator will foster strategic relationships within the campus community to promote RJ work across campus.

The Coordinator will design alternative resolution and creative sanctioning experiences for students charged with violating the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities.

The Coordinator is involved in a variety of activities covering the entire student conduct process (e.g. investigating and adjudicating allegations of non‑academic misconduct), participating in the training of University Hearing Officers, and assisting with office outreach to other departments.

The primary focus of student conduct at the University of Kansas is educational rather than punitive. The guiding principle is to hold students accountable for behavior which violates the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities while preserving students' rights and helping develop their decision‑making abilities. SCCS employs a spectrum of resolution options to create a comprehensive conflict management experience for students and student organizations.

The Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards exists within Student Affairs. KU Student Affairs coordinates and develops student support services and programs and serves as an advocate for student needs across the university community that contribute to overall academic success. Student Affairs extends beyond the classroom. Our mission is to engage the KU community in programs, services, and spaces that make learning possible.
