EECS Lecture Assistant | Student Hourly – Inside Higher Ed
Position OverviewEECS Lecture Assistants will aid instructors during lecture activities. They work directly with their instructor to discuss any preparation needed prior to lectures and are expected to attend every session of a particular lecture (e.g., MWF 9am EECS 168). Assistants are not permitted access to student grades. The goal is to reduce the student‑to‑instructor ratio and provide peer support to students currently taking the course.
Job Description- 90% Assistant student with in‑class activities
- 10% Collaborate with Professor to ensure activity assistance goes smoothly
- Must have passed the course they will work in with a B or higher, or have instructor permission.
- During the semester term, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods, the student hourly must have been enrolled in at least 6 hours in the past spring semester, be pre‑enrolled in the upcoming fall semester with at least 6 hours, or be enrolled in summer session or admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester.
Student hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments do not apply to Student Hourly appointments.
- Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
- This is an hourly/non‑exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non‑exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.

This is a POOL position to hire multiple EECS Lecture Assistants. Applications are accepted and reviewed on an ongoing basis throughout the academic year and positions are filled as needed. Only one application is needed per academic year.
