Academic Standing and Training/Events Coordinator

Location:

Topeka, KS | Advertised Salary Range: $52,000.00 | Salary Range: $65,000.00–$70,000.00 | Anticipated start date:

Position Overview:

The Academic Standing and Training/Events Coordinator serves in a key assessment role related to student standing in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. They provide support for student success through analysis of policy and academic requirements and collaborate with campus partners. This coordinator determines academic standing, eligibility for the College Dean’s Honor Roll, develops reports, coordinates training services and events, manages enrollment holds, and assists with orientation support.

Responsibilities
  • Determine academic standing and Honor Roll eligibility for approximately 20,000 undergraduate students per year.
  • Communicate status and conditions to students, advisors, and campus partners.
  • Provide regular reporting to the Assistant Dean, advisors, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct monthly reviews to update standing changes due to grade changes or other actions.
  • Upload academic standing each semester and after the 20th day.
  • Coordinate with the Office of the University Registrar to update standing and drop schedules.
  • Review readmission and admission applications following dismissal.
  • Act on student petitions related to readmission and reinstatement policies.
  • Train new staff on standing policies and conduct workshops.
  • Place and remove enrollment holds related to academic standing.
  • Coordinate and maintain training materials for CUAS staff, faculty leaders, and academic advisors.
  • Conduct semesterly outreach to assess training needs.
  • Schedule training sessions and manage presenters.
  • Assess post‑training outcomes for future improvements.
  • Plan and execute student engagement events, ensuring alignment with university goals.
  • Develop marketing materials and coordinate event logistics (location, food, equipment).
  • Maintain the College Undergraduate website and electronic displays.
  • Create quarterly newsletters and develop office branded materials.
  • Serve as liaison with the College Data Team to provide reports and comparative data.
  • Use data proactively to identify policy improvement areas.
  • Manage enrollment holds, assess compliance, and remove holds as criteria are met.
  • Provide troubleshooting support during New Student Orientation Headquarters advising sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least three years of experience, or Master’s degree with at least one year of experience in higher education or a similar field.
  • Minimum one year of work experience demonstrating detailed work, task prioritization, and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of KU and College of Liberal Arts & Sciences requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience with data analysis using Excel.
  • Experience collaborating on large‑scale student support/success initiatives.
