The Neuropsychologist functions within a consultation model to provide specialized psychological services as a centralized resource for patients at Providence Care Hospital. Working collaboratively with interprofessional teams and in alignment with the organization’s Collaborative Practice Model and Approach to Care, the Neuropsychologist supports patients in achieving their highest possible level of functional independence and minimizing disability throughout their hospital admission.
In addition to clinical responsibilities, the Neuropsychologist may pursue adjunct academic appointments with Queen’s University in the Department of Psychiatry and/or Department of Psychology, serving as a Clinical Supervisor to students and trainees.
Education & Experience:- Doctoral level degree in Clinical Psychology from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) and/or American Psychological Association (APA) accredited university program
- Minimum 2 years related experience in provision of neuropsychological assessment and treatment planning
- CPA and/or APA accredited residency preferred
- Registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario for practice with Adults and Seniors (preferred) in Clinical Neuropsychology and Rehabilitation Psychology (preferred)
- Registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts for supervised practice may be considered
- Experience in provision of group psychotherapy, an asset
- Current or eligible for clinical supervisor/adjunct status at Queen’s University
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Screens and prioritizes referrals
- Selects, administers/oversees and interprets cognitive and neuropsychological standardized testing on patients with a wide variety of psychological, neurological, and other medical conditions
- Conducts comprehensive neuropsychological assessments to address a range of referral questions, including diagnostic clarification, cognitive strengths and weaknesses, and return to functional activities (e.g., school, work, driving, independent living, etc.)
- Communicates appropriate treatment and behavioural plan recommendations to those within the circle of care
- Plans, executes, monitors and evaluates neuropsychological interventions for those individuals with dementia
- Completes electronic clinical documentation in accordance with legislative, organizational policies/procedures, and the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario’s Standards of Practice.
- Contributes to team-based care plans with respect to client needs and treatment recommendations
- Provides clinical supervision to the Psychometrist, psychology graduate students, and research assistants, as required
