Accountable to:
District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers (Perishables, Store Operations, Health Wellness Home), and Bakery Department Manager. No positions report to this role.
- Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions.
- Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner.
- Attempts to learn customers’ names and address them by name when possible.
- Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing items out of reach, loading/unloading heavy items, and performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience.
- Answers the telephone promptly; provides friendly service and takes product orders.
- Takes customer orders at the bakery counter.
- Works with co‑workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Checks orders for the day, sets up a timeline, and creates a production schedule.
- Decorates bakery items in a timely manner.
- Stays current on new designs and trends.
- Ensures departmental standards are met.
- Checks cake orders for details (size, deco pack, icing needs, dates) daily and indicates supply needs.
- Orders and tracks supplies for the decorating area.
- Delivers product and sets up wedding cakes on site outside the store.
- Communicates with bakery manager regarding displays, weekly ads, and special needs daily.
- Checks product dates, pulls cases, and lists items to fill or replace.
- Develops bakery orders for bakers daily (orders cakes, sizes, etc.).
- Tracks daily retail production and identifies tasks with co‑workers.
- Operates as a lead worker with part‑time employees, instructing and reviewing work.
- Participates in employee cross‑training.
- Understands and practices proper sanitation procedures; keeps work area clean and neat.
- Adheres to company policies and store guidelines.
- Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
- Wraps all product as necessary.
- Assists in other areas of the store as needed.
- Performs other job‑related duties and special projects as required.
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization and interpret instructions.
- Good arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, percentages.
- Ability to file, post, mail materials; copy data from records; interview for basic information; guide people and provide direction.
High school or equivalent; six months or less of similar or related work experience.
Physical Requirements- Exert up to 100 lbs occasionally; up to 50 lbs frequently; up to 10 lbs constantly.
- Visual requirements: vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet, with or without correction; color vision; depth perception; field of vision.
- Perform: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions.
Store environment with significant pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities. Exposure to flour dust, noise, cleaning chemicals/solvents, residual fumes, temperature extremes.
Equipment Used to Perform JobStandard tools and equipment in a bakery – mixers, ovens, turntables, tips, bas, airbrush telephone copy cake machine, intercom system.
ContactsDaily contact with the general public taking orders. Weekly contact with suppliers/vendors.
