Responsibilities

  • Carry an average caseload of 20 active families
  • Accept referral information regarding potential placements for children in care and match with foster families
  • Conduct home visits and review documentation on foster children on a monthly basis
  • Conduct home visits on assigned active respite families on a monthly basis
  • Assist foster parents in accessing resources to meet foster child needs
  • Ensure that foster parents attend trainings throughout the year for their annual relicensing requirements
  • Complete initial licensing, renewal process, exceptions, and amendments as necessary
  • Conduct family assessments at time of initial licensing and renewal
  • Update Electronic Record System and openings list once weekly at a minimum or upon request
  • Facilitate support meetings and other activities for foster families regularly
  • Track DCF Notice of Survey Findings (NOSF) to ensure that corrective actions are completed
  • Track MVR reports to ensure that corrective actions are completed
  • Develop and track Compliance Action Plans (CAPs) and/or safety plans with foster families as required
  • Assist in the process of recruiting new foster families
  • Prepare monthly reports that document current strengths and needs of each child in assigned foster homes
  • Provide crisis/on‑call services and 24‑hour, 7‑day support to assigned foster families
  • Submit an incident report when appropriate
  • Maintain good working relationships and facilitate communication with the foster family, foster child, and collateral agencies and staff
  • Approve foster parent payment reports twice a month
  • Conduct adoption home studies as needed
  • Maintain regular contact with supervisor
  • Require the ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Attend monthly CPA meetings and yearly Child Welfare staff development conference
  • Participate in the annual foster family conference, summer appreciation events, and Christmas parties
  • Conduct pre‑service training for prospective foster and adoptive families
  • Complete pre‑service summary / recommendations and strengths / needs
  • Job may require the employee to be able to regularly drive to various DCCCA locations and other business locations throughout the day, including early morning or evening hours
Education, Experience, and Licensure
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a human services field
  • Requires at least two years of child welfare and/or family services experience
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license, in‑force automobile liability insurance, and maintain a motor vehicle record (MVR) that meets organization’s insurability standard as defined by DCCCA policy. Availability of reliable transportation is required for this position
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Requires overall computer knowledge and proficiency with the following:
    • Computerized database programs
    • Spreadsheet programs
    • Word processing programs
  • Requires the ability to efficiently operate office equipment such as:
    • Computerized e‑mail systems
    • Calculators, copiers, fax machines
    • Telephones and voicemail systems
  • Effective listening, oral, and written communication skills, including face‑to‑face, on‑site, in‑person discussions. Exercises appropriate use of positive language.
  • Regular and predictable on‑site attendance.
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft suite of products including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to efficiently operate other office equipment such as telephones, voicemail systems, copy and fax machines, and scanners.
