. This contract, on-site position offers a meaningful opportunity for an Associate-level physician to deliver high-quality critical care services within a dynamic and fast-paced clinical environment. As part of the Medical Practice industry, you will play a vital role in supporting patient outcomes and ensuring continuity of care during a defined coverage period.
In this locum critical care role, you will provide comprehensive medical management for critically ill patients, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams including nursing staff, respiratory therapists, and fellow physicians. Your expertise will directly contribute to patient safety, clinical excellence, and the smooth operation of the intensive care unit. The position is well-suited to a physician who thrives in high-acuity settings and values flexible, impactful work.
Responsibilities- Provide direct critical care management for patients in the intensive care unit and related settings
- Perform comprehensive assessments, develop treatment plans, and monitor patient progress
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory studies and imaging
- Initiate and manage life-support interventions, including ventilator management and vasopressor therapy
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient-centered care
- Document clinical findings, treatment plans, and procedures accurately and promptly
- Respond to medical emergencies and rapid response calls within the facility
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff regarding care decisions
- Adhere to all hospital policies, safety protocols, and regulatory standards
- Participate in handoff communications and ensure continuity of care across shifts
- Maintain compliance with credentialing and continuing medical education requirements
- Provide clinical guidance and support to nursing and ancillary staff as needed
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
- Associate-level experience in critical care medicine
- Valid medical license to practice in the state of Lawrence
- Board certification or board eligibility in Critical Care Medicine
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills in high-acuity settings
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, on-site clinical environment
- Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and evidence-based practice
- Willingness to work flexible hours as required for locum coverage
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical documentation systems
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teams
Overnight beeper call coverage
Setting: 19-bed open ICU
Average Daily Census: 10-12 patients
Procedures:
Intubation, ventilator management, Arterial lines, and central lines
Support Staff: APPs
EMR:
Medi Tech
Must be board-certified
