Pay RangeBase pay range: $56,415.00 /yr – $84,063.00 /yr
Position SummaryThe Breen School is seeking a Special Education Teacher responsible for planning and co‑teaching alongside core content teachers within a grade level. Instructional models—including inclusion, pull‑out, and co‑teaching—will be determined in accordance with students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). The ideal candidate believes in the potential of every student and is committed to fostering a classroom environment where all learners are supported, challenged, and empowered.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Collaborate effectively with colleagues in grade‑level and vertical content planning meetings.
- Attend and actively participate in IEP, 504, student support, and other team‑based meetings.
- Contribute to family engagement initiatives and maintain regular communication with parents/guardians.
- Establish and sustain collaborative working relationships with paraprofessionals assigned to the grade level.
- Demonstrate skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
- Monitor individual student progress and adjust teaching strategies based on ongoing assessment data.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development.
- Promote parent and community involvement in student learning and classroom activities.
- Prior experience teaching in a special education setting is preferred.
- Ability to create a safe and purposeful learning environment that supports student growth.
- Strong collaboration skills to ensure alignment with fellow educators and instructional partners.
- Massachusetts Teacher Certification in Special Education.
- Bachelor's Degree required;
Master's Degree preferred. - Proficiency in English required; bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.
