This is a part-time position with a maximum of 1,508 hours per year and is not eligible for paid holidays, leave, or benefits.


Job Description
  • Working knowledge of Fire Apparatus and similar support vehicles including operating, inspecting, and identifying repair and maintenance needs for the vehicles and tools, equipment, and components on the vehicles.
  • Being familiar with developing and understanding specifications and needs for large vehicles and apparatus
  • Having knowledge of Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services general and operating procedures for vehicle operation and care/maintenance

Essential Duties
  • Apparatus checks before sending to and after returning from Fleet Services
  • Equipment and tool inspections, maintenance, and testing (pump, ladder, hose, saws, extrication tools, etc.)
  • Assistance in multiple areas of Fire Apparatus (administrative, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus, small equipment, deliveries, etc.)

Hourly rate

$17.50/hr

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, or G.E.D., (must be attached to application)and four years of related experience preferably in training and/or facilitation; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
