CAAs and CRNAs are highly skilled health professionals working under licensed anesthesiologists to implement anesthesia care plans. They work exclusively within the anesthesia care team environment as described by the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA). All anesthetists possess a premedical background, a bachelor’s degree, and have completed a comprehensive didactic and clinical program at the graduate level. They are trained extensively in delivering and maintaining quality anesthesia care and advanced patient monitoring techniques.

The goal of anesthetist education is to develop qualified students into competent healthcare practitioners practicing within the anesthesia care team.

• Certified Anesthesia Assistant
• Current active state licensure as an Anesthesiologist Assistant in Georgia, complying with all applicable state requirements.
• Master’s degree in Anesthesia.
• Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the institution or state's required limits.
• Demonstrates current competency in clinical responsibilities.
• Ability to perform clinically as an anesthetist regularly in the facility setting.
• Proficient in operating, interpreting data from equipment to perform anesthesia and perioperative care, ensuring patient safety and wellbeing.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with clinical staff and other disciplines.
• Knowledge and skills to provide appropriate care for the patient population(s) served, considering growth and development over the lifespan.
• Understanding of infection prevention and control techniques.
• Ability to maintain confidential records.
• Adherence to facility policies and procedures.

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist

• Current active state licensure as a registered nurse in Georgia, complying with all applicable requirements.
• Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program.
• Certified or recertified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists.
• Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the institution or state's required limits.
• Demonstrates current clinical competency.
• Ability to perform clinically as a nurse anesthetist regularly in the facility setting.
• Proficient in operating, interpreting data from equipment to perform anesthesia and perioperative care, ensuring patient safety and wellbeing.
• Effective communication skills for collaboration with clinical staff and other disciplines.
• Knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s), considering growth and development across the lifespan.
• Understanding of infection prevention and control techniques.
• Ability to maintain confidential records.
• Adherence to facility policies and procedures.
