Trades Technician - Sheriff Department

Job Description

This class is responsible for performing journeyman trades and duties. The position will be required to perform complex installations and repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspecting equipment. This position is a lead to staff and will assign and monitor work as well as train new employees.

• Serving as a lead
• Performing complex installations and repairs
• Inspecting equipment and determining needed repairs
• Performing preventative maintenance
• Maintaining level of supplies and equipment

• This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
• This job requires a public safety background check to include motor vehicle histories, criminal histories, and fingerprinting.
• This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.

Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program. Grades and titles of these positions are dependent upon experience and education.

• Trades Tech I – Grade A12(3).
  Salary: $36,633.00 - $46,706.00
• Trades Tech II – Grade B21(3).
  Salary: $43,238.00 - $56,209.00
• Trades Tech III – Grade B23(3).
  Salary: $51,237.00 - $66,607.00

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license

• Two years of trades experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above
• Valid driver's license

• Four years of trades experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above
• Valid driver's license

• Level I Certification in specialty area (Trades Tech I)
• Level I or II Certification in specialty area (Trades Tech III)
