Job Description

The Sheet Metal Mechanic is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal components for HVAC and mechanical systems. This position involves working with ducts, vents, roofs, and structural metal components according to design specifications. The ideal candidate possesses technical expertise, strong attention to detail, and the ability to interpret blueprints to deliver high-quality installations and repairs.

Basic Skills & Knowledge

  • Fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal products based on design drawings and specifications.
  • Install and repair HVAC ductwork, gutters, roofs, siding, and related sheet metal products.
  • Measure, cut, bend, and shape sheet metal using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and layouts to determine materials and fabrication steps.
  • Inspect finished products for accuracy, fit, and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety and quality procedures.
  • Collaborate with field crews, project managers, and other trades to complete installations efficiently.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience (3+ years preferred) as a Sheet Metal Mechanic in HVAC or commercial construction.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, specifications, and mechanical drawings.
  • Skilled in operating power brakes, shears, and forming tools.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC duct systems and airflow design.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in field and shop environments.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple job sites.
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.
