The Water Meter Installer reports to the Smart Meter Deployment Operations Manager s position plays a key role in water meter maintenance and measurement. This position also requires a high degree of walking in outdoor environmental conditions, excellent time management, and exceptional flexibility day to day.

Pay for this role is at $25/hour. ***

• Perform visual inspections of water service for leaks
• Identify hazards at meter sites and report accordingly
• Properly change out water meters of varying sizes and brands
• Properly change out water meter registers for AMI/AMR upgrade
• Read water meters
• Enter data collected in the field into a handheld computer
• Assist on additional projects, as necessary
• Refer all consumer complaints to the appropriate authorities
• Provide general information about the meter services to customers, when applicable
• Use telephones, tablets, and/or computers to communicate
• Other duties as assigned

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• No experience necessary; employees will be trained
• Valid driver's license is required

Nice to Have:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 or more years of experience in the direct exchange of water meters and registers of varying sizes
• 1 year of continuous work with the same employer, and/or 6 or more months working

• Exceptional flexibility in daily routines and route scheduling; must be flexible in times of need, including extended nights and weekends
• Adequate time management skills to finish daily meter reads in a timely manner
• Excellent communication skills, comfortable interacting with management and customers
• Ability to interact with unhappy or negative customers in a professional manner
• Excellent attention to detail for problem solving and finding
• Ability to walk long distances and prepare for weather conditions
• Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
• Basic knowledge of GIS systems and principles is required
• Place a high value on safety, quality of work, and operational procedure
