Job Description

Western Hills Christian Church is prayerfully seeking a senior pastor called by God to lead our congregation in a season of growth and effective ministry. WHCC is a multi-generational church of believers with approximately 125 members. The senior pastor will be a godly man that knows the word of God and lives by it.

This person will be doctrinally sound, someone who listens and works well with people. He should have a vision for the church and must articulate it clearly and effectively. As an Elder lead church, he will work in unison with the elders, shepherding, preaching and teaching the Bible and leading the congregation in the worship and the will of God.

• Shepherding:
  • He will be available and accessible to every member of the congregation.
  • The senior pastor will demonstrate personal integrity, accountability and trustworthiness.
  • He will be ready to counsel, instruct and biblically guide all individuals who seek his help.
• Preaching and Teaching:
  • Pursues the salvation of the lost through the convicting power of the gospel of Christ. Teach, edify, train and nurture the congregation toward spiritual maturity.
  • Work with the elders to maintain doctrinal accuracy of all education, instruction, worship and evangelism efforts.
• Administration:
  • Oversees weekly Sunday worship services, as well as any other special worship events.
  • Observes regular office hours daily within guidelines agreed by the elders. Leads church staff, and
  • Performs other duties as directed by the elders.

• A Bible college graduate is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a pastoral leadership role is preferred.
• Meets the spiritual characteristics found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.
• Has a growing relationship with Jesus Christ with a commitment to spiritual health and maturity.
• Has a passion for the church, evangelism, discipleship, and missions.
• Loves preaching and teaching the gospel.
