Requirements:
Hold a valid Oklahoma teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement and preferably Science or Math.

Skills and Abilities Required:

• Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the legal requirements of an IEP and the MEEGS process as outlined in Oklahoma.
• Must have a working knowledge of IDEA 2004.
• Must be proficient in the use of a computer, databases, Excel, Word, etc.
• Excellent written and oral presentation skills required.
• Transportation and the ability to move between schools required.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

• Plan curriculum and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to meet individual needs of the student considering state and school requirements and educational levels of development.
• Provide accommodations to meet individual student's needs.
• Prepare all acquired special education paperwork in a timely manner to satisfy state requirements.
• Conduct annual IEP meetings.
• Review and report student progress in a required time frame and discuss student's progress with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators.
• Co-teach if necessary.
• Work well with all related service providers.
• Supervise and mentor teacher assistants and personal care assistants who work with students with disabilities.
• Prepare and help students transition from grade to grade and/or post-graduation.
• Other teaching duties specific to specialized area.
• Other duties as assigned.
