Role Summary
This position is about commissioning expertise first. You do not need previous data center experience. We are looking for someone who genuinely understands the commissioning process, knows how complex MEP and controls systems should be tested and validated, and can take ownership of commissioning from planning and construction through functional testing, issue resolution, and final turnover. You could come from healthcare, pharmaceutical, life sciences, laboratories, advanced manufacturing, higher education, commercial construction, industrial, mission-critical, or another technically demanding environment.
What matters most is your ability to manage commissioning effectively on complex projects. Working closely with project teams, MEP trade partners, engineers, commissioning providers, controls contractors, and owners, you'll help ensure systems are installed correctly, thoroughly tested, documented, and ready to perform as intended at turnover.
- Lead and manage the commissioning process across complex construction projects.
- Develop, coordinate, and maintain commissioning plans, schedules, testing activities, and turnover requirements.
- Drive commissioning activities from preconstruction and installation through startup, functional performance testing, integrated testing, and final handover.
- Coordinate commissioning requirements across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, controls/BAS, and associated building systems.
- Work closely with project management, superintendents, MEP teams, engineers, commissioning agents, trade partners, vendors, and owners.
- Review drawings, specifications, submittals, sequences of operation, and commissioning documentation.
- Monitor equipment installation and system readiness ahead of startup and testing.
- Coordinate equipment startup, pre-functional checklists, functional performance testing, and system verification.
- Lead commissioning meetings and maintain accountability across contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
- Identify commissioning risks and potential system issues early enough to protect the project schedule.
- Manage deficiency and issue logs, driving problems through troubleshooting, corrective action, retesting, and closure.
- Coordinate BAS/controls testing, TAB activities, equipment startup, and MEP systems integration.
- Ensure commissioning milestones are properly incorporated into the overall construction schedule.
- Review testing results and commissioning documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Support project turnover, training, closeout documentation, and owner acceptance.
- Maintain a strong focus on quality, safety, schedule, and successful system performance throughout the project.
- Relevant commissioning, engineering, construction, or technical qualifications are beneficial.
- CxA, CCP, BCxP, CEM, LEED AP, PE, or similar industry credentials are advantageous but not assumed to be mandatory.
- Strong professional experience in commissioning (Cx) and complex MEP/building systems.
- Demonstrated experience managing or leading commissioning activities on major construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, BAS/controls, and integrated building systems.
- Practical understanding of the complete commissioning lifecycle, including pre-functional checks, equipment startup, functional performance testing, deficiency management, retesting, and turnover.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings,…
