- Assists in compiling corporate reports and additional statements for monthly financial and operational reporting.
- Investigate and report on differences between departmental monthly budgeted versus actual expenditures.
- Responsible for preparation and entry of general ledger journal entries and reconciliation of the general ledger to sub-ledgers.
- Performs moderately complex statistical, cost, and financial analysis of data reported in the various financial systems.
- Develops financial reports for forecasting, trending, and results analysis.
- Records, classifies, and summarizes financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Interprets financial transactions and events for users who must make economic or business decisions.
- Assists in the development of computer-generated reports that monitor capital budgets, expenditures, and project schedules and in the production of such outputs as graphs and status reports.
- Manage accounts receivable functions such as sending customer statements, entry of daily deposits, monitoring wires received by the bank, application of payments to accounts receivable balances and the deposit of all non-accounts receivable checks.
- Monitors all outbound and inbound warehouse freight accounts payable, assists with other accounts payable entries and processes accounts payable if needed.
- Review closing entries to ensure proper coding and entry of all invoices including fiber and fiber freight information.
- Assists with the physical inventories of finished goods and prepares summaries of finished goods inventory.
- Perform other duties as assigned and may be required to work additional hours to complete job assignments as directed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required:
In-depth knowledge of corporate, cost accounting, and financial planning; ability to provide internal controls; ability to communicate either verbally or in writing with all levels of management; ability to provide budgets, forecasts, financial analysis, and reports required by management. Strong mathematical and analytical skills for monitoring accounting records and resolving accounting problems. Exercises administrative judgement and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service with the functional areas.
Ability to sit and type/keyboard for long periods of time. Ability to operate a fax machine, copier, telephone, and computer.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field; plus, four years of experience in manufacturing, cost, and financial accounting desirable. Additional education may be substituted for some experience.
Must be computer literate and completely familiar with electronic spreadsheets, database management systems, and computerized accounting programs. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Access, and Internet.
Environmental Conditions:
Normally indoor office work. Periodic work in the mill requires exposure to loud environment and hot or cold conditions.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Exercises supervisory responsibility of the Accounts Receivable and Payable functions.
Relationships With Others:
The responsibilities of the position require close coordination with the Finance Department, management, and support staff. Must have a good exchange of non-routine information using tact and persuasion as appropriate requiring good verbal and written communication skills. May assist in directing activities of a staff function.
Authority:
This position has the authority to execute assigned duties and job responsibilities within the constraints of Company policies and procedures and legal regulations.
