The Digital Media Specialist is responsible for managing Great Plains Technology Center's website content management system while supporting the institution's digital marketing initiatives through graphic design, social media management, and digital advertising. This position ensures website content is accurate, accessible, visually engaging, and aligned with GPTC's strategic communications goal across both the Lawton and Frederick campuses.
Working within the Marketing and Communications Department, the Digital Media Specialist collaborates with departments across the district to maintain website content, manage social media channels, support digital advertising efforts, and support recruitment and community engagement efforts through innovative digital communications.
Essential functions:- Manage and maintain Great Plains Technology Center's website through the organization's content management system.
- Create, edit, review, and publish website content, including program information, news stories, event details, employee information, announcements, and institutional updates.
- Coordinate with departments to ensure website information is accurate, current, and consistent.
- Assist employees who submit website updates and provide guidance on appropriate web content.
- Ensure website content follows applicable digital accessibility standards and best practices.
- Manage Great Plains Technology Center's official social media accounts, ensuring content aligns with the institution's brand, mission, and strategic priorities.
- Develop, schedule, and publish engaging content across platforms
- Create monthly social media content calendars in collaboration with the Marketing team.
- Assist in planning, creating, implementing, and monitoring digital advertising campaigns supporting student recruitment, workforce development, adult education, and community outreach.
- Coordinate multimedia storytelling to include capturing, scriptwriting, and editing video packages, and photography
- Assist with the design and production of digital and printed marketing materials.
Digital Communication & Content Strategy: Ability to develop clear, accurate, engaging, and audience-focused digital content across multiple platforms while maintaining organizational voice, messaging, and brand standards.
Digital Marketing & Audience Engagement: Knowledge and ability to apply digital marketing strategies, social media practices, and advertising principles to effectively reach and engage diverse audiences and support organizational goals.
Multimedia & Creative Communication: Ability to conceptualize, develop, and produce compelling visual and multimedia content, including photography, video, written storytelling, and digital and print materials.
Collaboration, Quality & Accessibility: Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, evaluate information for accuracy and consistency, apply accessibility and digital best practices, and maintain high standards for public-facing communications.
Work environment:The Specialist typically works in an office environment, but the mission of the school may require work in other workplaces. This position may require evening and/or weekend hours to accommodate activities such as Board meetings and representation of Great Plains at public events.
