NURSE PRACTITIONER DESCRIPTION
The Nurse Practitioner has special knowledge and skills in health maintenance, disease prevention, psychosocial physical assessment and management of health-illness needs in the specialty listed or primary care of the family.
EDUCATIONMust be a graduate of an accredited program of nursing. Must have successfully completed additional theoretical and clinical education through an accredited graduate level family nurse practitioner program.
REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS (IF APPLICABLE)Must maintain current Oklahoma licensure as a registered nurse (RN) and as an advanced registered nurse practitioner (ARNP). Must maintain current certification as a family nurse practitioner through American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience as a family nurse practitioner is preferred but not required.
PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT DEFINITIONThe Physician Assistant is a health care professional, qualified by academic and clinical education, and licensed by the State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision, who provides health care services in a variety of patient care settings under the direction and supervision of a physician. Patients cared for are infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
EDUCATIONMust be a graduate of a physician assistant program approved by the American Medical Association.
REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS (IF APPLICABLE)Must be a licensed as a P.A. by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMust have a minimum of one (1) year practical experience in a primary care setting.
