NURSE PRACTITIONER
DESCRIPTION: The Nurse Practitioner has special knowledge and skills in health maintenance, disease prevention, psychosocial physical assessment and management of health-illness needs in the specialty listed or primary care of the family.
EDUCATION:Must be a graduate of an accredited program of nursing. Must have successfully completed additional theoretical and clinical education through an accredited graduate level family nurse practitioner program.
REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS (IF APPLICABLE):Must maintain current Oklahoma licensure as a registered nurse (RN) and as an advanced registered nurse practitioner (ARNP). Must maintain current certification as a family nurse practitioner through American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Experience as a family nurse practitioner is preferred but not required.
PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTDEFINITION: The Physician Assistant is a health care professional, qualified by academic and clinical education, and licensed by the State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision, who provides health care services in a variety of patient care settings under the direction and supervision of a physician. Patients cared for are infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
EDUCATION:Must be a graduate of a physician assistant program approved by the American Medical Association.
REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS (IF APPLICABLE):Must be licensed as a P.A. by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Must have a minimum of one (1) year practical experience in a primary care setting.
