Food Clerk-Cashier — Part Time – Hourly

• Greet, assist, and ring out all customers politely
• Process customer purchases quickly and accurately by operating an electronic cash register, scanner and scale
• Clean the register area by sweeping floors, cleaning check lanes, registers and scales
• Prevent loss of money and merchandise by careful product handling, price checks, correct identification of produce, counting money, and correctly using store procedures for the acceptance of coupons, WIC and other vouchers, checks, credit and debit cards
• Assure the safety of self, customers and co-workers by understanding and practicing store safety rules and notifying a supervisor of any potential hazard
• Bag customer purchases quickly and correctly
• Understand the operation, safety requirements and restraints of an electronic cash register, scanner, scale and intercom system
• Perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by supervisors and managers as needed to provide products and services to customers

Cashiers (food clerks) report directly to the Front-End Manager or Store Manager.

• Above and Beyond Customer Service
• Basic Mathematics (Add, subtract, multiply, divide)
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Prior Experience in related field or industry

• Standing capability, 4 hours minimum
• Move a maximum of 40 lbs. from 6 inches to 48 inches
• Move a maximum of 40 lbs. up to 15 feet
• Pick up items from floor/case/shelf/cart
• Retrieve merchandise on the top of grocery shelves, approximately 84 inches from the floor
• Bend and twist at the waist while cleaning, moving/removing merchandise and loading/unloading merchandise

Inside work with transitions of heat/cold/humidity/dust from opening of store entrance/exit doors.
