The Utility Engineer will review utility engineering design and construction work plans to ensure that they comply with American Railway Engineering Maintenance Association (AREMA) and all railroad standards.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct reviews of utility designs, engineering plans and/or construction work plans for compliance with AREMA and railroad client’s specific railroad standards
- Utilize railroad client’s Valuation Maps and electronic GIS maps for calculating mileposts and stationing
- Provide comments in approved format to Real Estate team and utility company within the contractually defined timeline
- Escalate variance requests to Manager or client in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Develop thorough understanding of real estate agreement/permits and all construction requirements and apply knowledge to all reviews
- Develop relationships with client engineering departments
