About This RoleTextron Systems is seeking a full‑time Mechanical Engineer with experience in mechanical design focused on military applications. The candidate should possess good communication and presentation skills and be comfortable interacting with suppliers within a multidiscipline team. The position requires experience integrating component design solutions into an overall assembly. This position requires that the candidate be a US citizen with or capable of receiving a Secret level security clearance.
Responsibilities- Participating in the detailed design of structural components.
- Being a member of a team responsible for the development and design integration of mechanical components and systems.
- Creation of Technical Data Packages that include 3D drawings, specifications and materials lists for component and assemblies of mechanical and electro‑mechanical applications.
- Preparing and directing high quality mechanical and electro‑mechanical detail and assembly drawings.
- Transitioning product design to production and test.
- Writing technical and proposal documents.
- Creating detailed design reports and presentations to summarize design/analysis results.
- Comfortable as a designer of mechanical components and systems subjected to extreme hypersonic flight conditions, including packaging design of electronics systems, interconnects, interface control documents and designing for manufacturing and assembly techniques.
- Well versed in CAD design utilizing 3D digital product development tools and understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
- Demonstrated participation in a mechanical and structure design team leading to a qualified aeroshell design capable of reacting to high loading and thermal gradient conditions.
- Experience designing high temperature parts, allowing for thermal strain in tightly tolerant pressurized parts and familiarity with various material types and joining methods.
- Skilled in utilizing 3D digital manufacturing information to influence design definition options (preferably Siemens solutions) to create manufacturable detailed assemblies and material schedules under configuration management.
- Ability to generate product performance specifications, mass property summary reports, and detailed design summary technical reports. Demonstrated DFMA skills a plus.
- Proficiency in Siemens NX and Teamcenter, including product specification development, surface finish and material specification via PMP written design documentation, presentation, and proposal preparation.
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in a related field.
- Possesses or has ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance.
