Description
Tanner Clinic has an immediate opening for a Neurodiagnostic Technician (Nerve Conduction Study [NCS] Technologist) at our East Layton location. Under the supervision of a licensed physician, the N performs nerve conduction studies to measure the speed and strength of electrical signals in a patient's nerves. The technician is responsible for patient preparation, equipment operation, and accurate data collection for physician interpretation.
HoursTuesday - Friday 8am-12pm
EssentialJob Responsibilities
- Perform prescribed motor and sensory nerve conduction studies in accordance with established protocols.
- Stimulate peripheral nerves and record evoked electrical responses with precision and consistency.
- Conduct specialized nerve conduction measurements, including F-wave and related latency studies.
- Configure and calibrate nerve conduction study parameters to optimize signal quality.
- Identify and correct physiologic and non-physiologic artifacts affecting nerve conduction data.
- Collect and preserve nerve conduction findings for physician review and interpretation.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma required.
- Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) certification highly preferred.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a neurodiagnostic technology program preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., R.NCS.T., CNCT) highly preferred.
- Experience working in a medical office, clinic, or hospital setting preferred.
- Knowledge of neurodiagnostic technology, principles, and procedures.
- Understanding of neuroanatomy and neurophysiology.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Proficiency in performing neurodiagnostic procedures using appropriate equipment.
- Skill in operating neurodiagnostic equipment in accordance with safety, infection control, and quality assurance standards.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate data collection, documentation, and analysis.
- Effective written, verbal, and telephone communication skills.
- Ability to provide patient education consistent with a patient-centered care philosophy.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and clinical staff.
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and understanding toward patients and their caregivers.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Ability to manage inventory of testing supplies, including electrodes, needles, and other materials.
- Ability to learn new neurodiagnostic techniques and procedures.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in stressful situations.
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
