The Layton Utah facility specializes in machining the largest complex structures built from carbon fiber composites and aluminum for the aerospace and space exploration markets. Weekend Day Shift

Hours:

5:30 AM – 6:00 PM, Friday – Sunday.
Shift differential: $3.00.
Work: 36 hours, paid for 40 hours.

Position Description

The Machinist/Mill Technician performs a variety of duties and utilizes multiple skillsets to set up, machine & inspect complex machined components in a 5‑axis environment. Technicians are required to read & interpret drawings, follow process instructions, and monitor machine controllers. Daily tasks include changing & monitoring cutting tools, part inspection (laser and manual inspection), machine operation, part loading and routine machine maintenance.

Machinists/Mill Technicians are expected to support other activities as needed to include but not limited to deburring, part detailing and assembly.

Essential Job Functions
  • Attention to detail and quality is required.
  • Reads and understands blueprints, isometric drawings and work orders.
  • Must be able to recognize and report machine problems and difficulties.
  • Understanding of mill gauging procedures.
  • Receives and carries out directions from designated Supervisors and Production Leads.
  • Must be able to understand and comply with Safety Practices.
  • Sets up scaffolding and safety barriers under direction.
  • Properly executes Hazardous Material Disposal activities.
  • Performs prescribed maintenance on machines and facilities as required.
  • Knowledge of common hand tools.
  • Works in other Cells to support Production as required, e.g., Mold Fab or Assembly Cells.
  • Performs on‑the‑job training, AS9100, NAdCap training and other training as required.
  • Compliance with 5S, AS9100 and NAdCap Standards and Practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Position may require obtaining a security clearance with special program access.
  • Must work well under pressure, meeting multiple deadlines; demonstrates cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Being at work on time and maintaining good attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job.
Qualifications

Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).

Education/Experience
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Three years (3) of machining/mill experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in composite or fiberglass fabrication and repair is preferred.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow work orders, written procedures, blueprints, drawings, and other technical documents.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Wage range: $20 – $48 an hour plus discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off‑site work, and access pay.
