What You Will Do- Providing resources and tools to support associates helping customers deliver the best service.
- Assisting with down stocking and area recovery and contributing to merchandising decisions.
- Monitoring store power equipment use and coaching employees on safe behaviors and lifting techniques.
The Sales Floor Department Supervisor leads and enables a team of associates to deliver an outstanding customer experience. This includes coaching and training associates, delegating and following up on daily tasks, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage. The supervisor handles customer‑facing activities such as greeting customers, clarifying needs, identifying solutions, and closing sales; non‑customer‑facing tasks such as down stocking, inventory management, and area recovery;
and store safety responsibilities, including safety walks, hazard reporting, and ensuring compliance with safety and lifting directions.
The supervisor collaborates with leaders to identify practices that meet sales and service objectives, communicates best practices to inspire customer‑focused behavior, and encourages goal attainment. They may also supervise associates in other departments as needed to meet store demand, requiring broad product knowledge and cross‑departmental engagement. Effective upward communication with management regarding concerns, issues, praises, and morale is essential.
Occasionally, the supervisor will open or close the store or serve as manager‑on‑duty (MOD). Travel is not required regularly, though occasional travel for meetings, training, or support of neighboring stores may be necessary.
What We're Looking For- Hourly Full Time:
Generally scheduled 39 to 40 hours; additional hours may be required based on store needs. - Availability during morning, afternoon, and evening on any day of the week.
- Physical ability to perform prolonged standing, sitting, and other job‑related tasks.
- Minimum lifting capacity of 25 pounds without assistance; may lift over 25 pounds with or without assistance.
- High School Diploma or equivalent plus either 3 years of retail experience or 5 years of retail experience.
- 1 year of customer service experience.
- 1 year supporting Pro customers (for Pro Department Supervisor).
- Experience providing direction or supervision to teams, with or without direct reports.
- Experience in training, mentoring, and developing associates.
- Experience working cross‑functionally.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to obtain sales‑related licensure or registration as required by law.
- 3 years of retail customer service experience.
- 3 years supporting Pro customers (Pro Department Supervisor).
- Leadership role with direct report responsibility.
- Experience in the home improvement retail sector.
- Experience in a fast‑paced, dynamic retail environment.
- Experience in key carrying roles with manager‑on‑duty responsibilities.
- Experience using store computer systems such as Project Tool, Genesis, Sterling, M2O, Thin Client, etc.
