General Purpose
Performs a variety of entry and mid-level duties as needed to coordinate the day-to-day operation of one or more City recreation programs.
Essential Functions- Promotes and follows the City's mission statement, values and expectations.
- Officiates, umpires, and monitors programs to assure rules, regulations and equipment are adequate and correct during specific recreational activities (i.e., baseball, softball, basketball, flag football, etc). Maintains scores during recreational activities and compiles records for submission to Site Supervisor.
- Monitors general activities of field/facility to assure safety. Reports safety concerns or problems to Site Supervisor. Provides general field/facility maintenance and cleaning.
- Communicates effectively with supervisors and public. Answers inquiries and provides information to the public.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Education and Experience:
Sufficient education and training to demonstrate an aptitude or ability to perform above related duties. - Must attend and pass training class to become a certified official and scorekeeper.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to learn, establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, various age groups, other organizations, and the public; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Ability to learn program specific rules, regulations, and equipment and implement this knowledge while working a variety of programs. Ability to work in a non-controlled environment and with tasks that require a variety of physical activities.
Ability to work as scorekeeper, official/umpire, or teacher at a variety of programs. Ability to work evening programs that may run until 10:00PM or later. Ability to train and mentor other staff in various programs. - Must be at least 16 years old.
