Job Description

Coordinate and obtain the daily ingredient needs of R&D. Proficiently use the Oracle based ingredient ordering system to transfer materials and packaging to R&D center. Perform set-up and sanitation of pilot plant equipment. Perform actual processing of mix and freezing of ice cream. Perform pilot plant sanitation and environmental testing procedures. Coordinate with assistance the maintenance of pilot plant equipment and vehicles.

Perform analytical testing of mixes after processing.

• Coordinate the ordering on ingredients, packaging, raw dairy, finished goods, and chemicals through the proper channels e.g. Oracle, Processing Dept, Outlook.
• Perform set-up and clean-up of various pieces of R&D equipment including: HTST, Homogenizer, Batch Freezers, and Continuous Freezers and any larger scale pilot plant support equipment.
• Assist with coordinating and transfer of larger scale pilot equipment from the warehouse or from the ice cream plants.
• Perform processing of mix and freezing of ice cream.
• Assist in the preventive maintenance of all pilot plant machinery and ensures proper preventative maintenance of R&D vehicle.
• Train R&D personnel in the safe operation of pilot plant equipment. Assist with training of Lock Out Tag Out procedures on pilot plant specific equipment.
• Take the lead and perform pilot plant sanitation and maintain environmental testing procedures.
• Responsible for the receiving of packages for R&D and assists with shipping as needed.

In addition to the responsibilities listed above, other duties may be assigned by your supervisor, as dictated by business necessity.

• High School Diploma
• Requires a minimum of 2 years of mix processing or operations experience in a dairy or related field and preferably minimum 2 years of pilot plant experience
• Knowledge - Core understanding of Wells product ingredients. Understanding of Warehouse methods. Understanding of the sanitation process.
• Skills - High level of organizational skills required. Able to prioritize tasks that have greatest impact on the business first.
• Abilities - Ability to communicate effectively and positively with people across the organization. Ability to work independently of direct supervision. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
