Business Context: Ethylene oxide (EO) is an important building block for the preparation of a wide variety of EO derivatives (EODs), including various surfactants, as well as a host of other chemical intermediates including Glycol Ethers, Polyethlene Glycols, Ethanolamines, and Alkyl Alkanolamines. INEOS Oxide is one of the world’s leading producers of Ethylene Oxide (EO) and Ethylene Oxide Derivatives (EODs). We currently have a total EO and EOD capacity of 920 kta spread across five different production units throughout Europe and the US.

These units have leading cost economics, due to economies of scale, state‑of‑the‑art technology, strategic locations, etc. Our EO project in the US is targeting the fast‑growing merchant EO market, building on our experience and leadership position in Europe.

Purpose of the Job: The Turnaround Engineer will support the Turnaround Manager as a technical expert interfacing with the site engineers, planners, designers, equipment/service vendors. They will work closely with the Turnaround Management Team (TAMT) and Turnaround Core Team (TACT) to ensure the achievement of turnaround goals. The role provides leadership in the delivery of activities in all phases of the turnaround project lifecycle and is responsible for developing the turnaround procurement strategy, identifying commodities and services needed to support turnaround preparation, execution, and close‑out.

The Turnaround Engineer serves as the Deputy Turnaround Manager and is responsible for implementing and completing project designs and all aspects of capital projects.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities SHE Responsibilities
  • Advises on safety expectations for the Turnaround and leads the team to achieve safety goals.
  • Serves as job representative and addresses all safety issues that arise with contractors brought on site for the execution of capital projects to deliver best‑in‑class HSE performance.
  • Ensures new installations adhere to INEOS Group Guidance Notes.
  • Ensures proper engagement with site SHE representatives and approvals of contractor safety plans.
  • Maintains safety as the highest priority of the plant.
  • Maintains the 20 Principles of Safety.
  • Adheres to and upholds all safety policies and standards.
Turnaround Engineering Responsibilities
  • Works in collaboration with the respective TAR manager in the various project phases.
  • Manages the collection of the complete scope of work for the plant shutdown, based on maintenance plans, legal requirements and planned maintenance measures, etc.
  • Executes work scope mapping in the central planning software and tracks scope changes.
  • Collaborates with requesters and detailed planners.
  • Acts as the central point of contact for the TAR detailed planning group.
  • Represents the TAR manager in cases of absence.
  • Leads importation of various scopes into the planning software to map a complete and comprehensive status of the scope of work as a basis for detailed planning.
  • Drives evaluation of damage reports, inspection reports and general inspection data from the respective asset to record and clarify work orders.
  • Prepares and implements work scope challenges.
  • Executes continuous maintenance of data in the relevant systems.
  • Practices handling of SAP‑PM:
    Tech. workstations, equipment, maintenance plans and orders, shift book, etc.
  • Obtains the necessary technical specifications (e.g., valve classes, etc.) from the respective asset managers.
