Medical Assistant for a Primary Care practice. The medical assistant performs a supportive role in delivering comprehensive, safe, effective, and efficient care to patients.

• Room the patient.
• Interview / update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepare patient charts a week in advance and verify benefits reports.
• Scan documents to the appropriate patient charts.
• Maintain that all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain pre‑authorization/determination for medications.
• Ensure that the physician is in‑network and that an authorized / up‑to‑date referral is in the patient’s chart.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with wound care and/or procedures.
• Follow up on calls / voicemails and document phone log / conversation.
• Educate and inform the patient of any labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.
• Schedule patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.
• Obtain authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Distribute faxes to the appropriate team member(s) via the main fax line.
• Travel to other CLS Health locations as needed.
• Perform related duties as required.

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.
• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Bilingual in Spanish – required.
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred.
