Facilities Ops Technician II - Maintenance - Offsite Clinics

. The position is posted on October 2, 2025, with a salary range of $45,834.00–$57,293.00 and regular full‑time day shift schedule. Primary location:
League City, Texas.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or recognized equivalent and one journeyman level industrial/commercial craft/trade approved by Property Services Leadership (e.g., Plumbing, Mechanical, HVAC, Structural, Instrumentation/Electronics, Refrigeration, Electronics/Fire Alarms).
  • One of the following:
    • Texas state license or an approved equal license with two years of journeyman‑level experience.
    • Recognized apprentice program or trade school with two years of experience.
    • Community college certification, associate degree in a related field with two years of experience.
    • NCCER training program or UTMB‑approved certification with two years of experience.
  • Eight years of Industrial/Heavy Commercial experience can substitute the specified certifications when verified.
  • Must demonstrate ability to perform essential job functions during a post‑offer employment test.
  • Physical requirement: lift up to 100 lbs. and perform frequent bending, standing, and walking.

Job Description:

Perform at a journeyman level in at least one industrial/commercial trade craft (Plumbing, Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, Structural, Instrumentation/Electronics, Refrigeration, Electronics/Fire Alarms) for maintenance and repair of heavy commercial building infrastructure and equipment.

Job Duties:

  • Proactively maintain all aspects of the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Consult with customers on work prioritization and assume full ownership of customer problems and equipment breakdowns, serving as the liaison between customer and Property Services (Physical Plant).
  • Perform detailed inspections of equipment, inform supervisors or managers of unusual conditions, problems, or deficiencies, and take appropriate action.
  • Carry out major repairs on complex systems and supporting equipment.
  • Start up, shut down, and adjust equipment or systems according to established operational and safety procedures.
  • Execute preventative or corrective maintenance tasks within assigned timelines.
  • Identify maintenance needs and perform proactive repairs before breakdowns occur.
  • Train and mentor new personnel in the area of expertise and basic codes and tool use.
  • Read and interpret marked‑up blueprints/drawings for corrections as needed.
  • Participate in project designs, reviews, shutdowns, project meetings, final inspections, and commissioning.
  • Support area shift coverage, on‑call duties, and after‑hours or extended projects as needed for a 24/7 institution.
  • Participate in disaster/hurricane preparedness teams (E1A Ride‑out or E1B Recovery).
  • Complete all UTMB‑required compliance training and attend staff, training, and safety meetings.
  • Identify and report safety hazards, adhere to internal controls, and perform related duties as required.

Equipment and

Skills:

Use of hand and power tools for allied trades; basic computer skills; use of handheld electronic communication devices; diagnostic testing equipment.

Working Environment/

Location:

  • Standard hospital, clinical, laboratory, and office environments.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases, harmful chemicals, adverse weather, mechanical and electrical hazards, high locations, crawlspaces, confined spaces, and special safety precautions.
  • Work may involve construction sites, craft shops, mechanical rooms, temperature extremes, ladders, stairways, rooftops, and confined spaces.

Other: This position may require security clearance under Texas Education Code Section 51.215.

Salary: Actual salary commensurate with experience.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; extended hours or rotating shifts may be required.
