Founding History Teacher - BASIS Leander (Opening Fall 2026)!

BASIS Charter Schools, a network consistently ranked among the best in the nation for its rigorous academic program, is seeking a highly motivated and engaging Founding History Teacher to join the inaugural team at BASIS Leander in Leander, Texas.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to help shape the culture, community, and academic success of a new school opening in Fall 2026. We are looking for an exceptional educator who is passionate about their subject matter and committed to inspiring students to achieve beyond expectations.

BASIS Leander will offer the renowned BASIS curriculum, designed to provide a world‑class, well‑rounded education focused on advanced academics, critical thinking, and intellectual curiosity. Key Responsibilities

The Founding History Teacher will be responsible for delivering the advanced and rigorous BASIS Social Sciences curriculum to middle and/or high school students. Specific duties include:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Teach History courses, which may include World History, U.S. History, and AP History, utilizing an engaging, content‑rich approach.
  • Student Engagement: Foster a classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, historical analysis, and a deep appreciation for cultural and global perspectives.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Develop and administer robust assessments to monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Founding Team

    Collaboration:

    Play a pivotal role in establishing the school's culture, contributing to school‑wide initiatives, and collaborating with fellow founding teachers to create a cohesive and supportive academic community.
  • Professional Development: Actively participate in professional learning opportunities and school‑wide meetings, continually seeking to improve instructional practices.
  • Student Support: Serve as an advisor or mentor, guiding students in their academic and personal growth within the BASIS model.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major or significant coursework in History, Social Studies, or a related field. A Master's degree is highly desirable.
  • Prior teaching experience in History or Social Sciences at the middle and/or high school level is strongly preferred. Experience teaching advanced placement (AP) or honors‑level courses is a significant asset.
  • A profound passion for the subject matter and an ability to convey complex concepts in a clear, compelling, and engaging manner.
  • Exceptional classroom management skills and an ability to create an organized, highly focused, and positive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A collaborative spirit and a commitment to working as part of a dynamic, founding team.

Interviews are expected to begin in December 2025 and January 2026.

Exact teaching roles and grade‑level assignments are not yet finalized and will be determined closer to the school's opening.
