Leander Plus Deli – Food Service Rep – Part-Time
Location:
Leander, TX

- Provide a well‑stocked, well‑maintained department while delivering superior customer service.
- Prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product daily while maintaining all department and food safety/sanitation standards.
- Serve as an owner in the company, demonstrating commitment, hard work, and focus on quality and customer service.
- Provide superior customer service.
- Take orders from customers by telephone or in person.
- Answer customer questions regarding products; assist with selections.
- Prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product effectively.
- Slice, package, label, rotate, and cull products for poor quality.
- Assist in technical areas as needed (e.g., basic set‑up and clean‑up processes).
- Use suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales.
- Clean and sanitize display cases.
- Operate and maintain equipment properly.
- Comply with H‑E‑B food safety and sanitation standards.
- Comply with department/store operating procedures.
- Record production and shrink to aid in production planning.
- Assist in technical areas as needed (e.g., baking, frying, and decorating).
- Cull bakery products for poor quality, expiration dates.
- Takes care of service counter customers.
- Uses ordering system applications.
- Uses Fresh Production Planner.
- Performs inventory management processes (MSI, PAW) as required.
- If applicable, ensures catering orders are prepared and ready in time for customer pickup.
- Performs all sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers.
- Serve/package products at customer's request.
- Educate customers on preparation/reheating instructions of prepared foods.
- Pre‑package condiments (sauces, dressings) for prepared food items.
- Cut, slice, dice, chop food in preparation for chef.
- Minimum age 18 (mandatory).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of company orientation and food safety and sanitation training upon hire.
- Knowledge of computer systems and equipment (e.g., PC, symbol, scales, label machine).
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Reading, writing, planning and organizing skills.
- Constantly reach at waist, grasp; frequently stand, walk, reach at shoulder; occasionally sit, reach overhead, knee, floor, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, stair climb, pivot, twist, push/pull with arms, pinch.
- Occasionally be exposed to wet, cold, hot conditions, loud noise.
- Demonstrate the ability to lift 50–70 lbs (Bakery) or 55–65 lbs (Deli) as applicable.
- Follow safe lifting limits and request assistance for heavy items.
