As an Underground Laborer for B Robinson Inc, you play a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground telecommunications infrastructure. You will work closely with the team to ensure the successful completion of projects related to conduit placement, cable installation, and equipment setup in underground pathways. Your physical ability, attention to detail, and commitment to safety contribute to efficient and high-quality execution of underground construction tasks.
DescriptionThis is an Hourly Non-Exempt position that reports to the Underground Foreman.
Basic Requirements- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Turn in deliverables and production reports daily.
- Set up and maintain a safe working environment, adhering to PPE guidelines.
- Punctuality – arrive on time, limit unexcused absences.
- Maintain, clean, and organize work area, truck, equipment, tools, and office space.
- Excellent teamwork skills; collaborate effectively with coworkers, vendors, and customers.
- Time‑management skills to use working hours efficiently.
- Complete required documentation timely.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Manage time from clock‑in to clock‑out.
- Submit fuel slips and truck/equipment walkthroughs weekly, fully completed.
- Keep workspace clean, maintain shop/yard space.
- Fuel trucks and equipment after each shift; for travel under 50 miles, fuel every other day.
- Possess physical stamina for lifting heavy objects, working in various weather conditions, performing manual labor.
- Consistently meet customer requirements for workmanship quality, project completion timeliness, and documentation.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers and team members.
- Present a professional image; maintain a professional appearance.
- Protect company assets and make prudent decisions to mitigate risks.
- Adhere to company rules, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure the quality of work and personal conduct meets company and customer standards.
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations (OSHA, NESC). Participate in safety training.
- Identify and report safety hazards promptly.
- Assist in installation, maintenance, and repair of underground telecommunications infrastructure.
- Support crew members (technicians, supervisors) in construction activities.
- Collaborate with team members to accomplish project goals.
- Follow instructions and guidance from supervisors.
- Communicate effectively with team, supervisors, stakeholders.
- Report progress, challenges, and concerns to project leaders.
- Assist with trenching and excavation for cable placement.
- Assist with conduit, cable, and equipment installation in underground pathways.
- Perform cable pulling in underground environments.
- Use appropriate tools and equipment for underground construction tasks.
- Submit necessary paperwork promptly: daily reports, timesheets, receipts, fuel purchase receipts, project documentation.
- Maintain vehicles and equipment: preventative maintenance, weekly inspections, safe storage of tools and test equipment.
- Load and unload equipment and materials as required.
- Be available 24/7 during scheduled on‑call rotation.
- Demonstrate flexibility to accommodate project demands.
- Other duties as assigned.
