About This RoleWe are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of Maths to deliver high-quality lessons that support students in achieving outstanding progress. The successful candidate will set clear learning targets, assess student progress with regular feedback, and ensure students are well‑prepared for examinations. With a genuine passion for Maths, you’ll help our students grow academically, socially, and emotionally, while staying up‑to‑date with current educational thinking.
They will contribute to schemes of work, maintain a stimulating learning environment, and engage with parents and the wider school community. The role also involves taking responsibility for professional development and actively participating in school duties and performance management activities.
The Mathematics Faculty is a lively and positive group with a strong team ethos. In addition to our team, we regularly host PGCE and i2i trainee student teachers.
The Head of Faculty who is line managed by a member of the Senior Team is supported in the leadership of the faculty three key stage leads.
All Maths classrooms are equipped with an interactive touch‑screen LCD. We strongly encourage the sharing of resources within the faculty and we will welcome the contributions of the appointed person. We make good use of Microsoft Teams, Sparx Maths and other resources to encourage independent learning both within and beyond the classroom.
Year 7 and 8 students are taught in their mixed ability groups and follow the Whiterose Mastery Scheme of Work.
At KS4 we follow the Edexcel specification and offer the AQA Level 2 further maths qualification to those who wish to develop their thinking further.
At KS5, we welcome around 70 students each year to the A‑level course and between 10 – 20 students to the Further Maths course. Both of these are also the Edexcel specification. We also offer support with preparation for STEP, MAT and TMUA examinations. The ability to teach A Level Maths is desirable but not essential – we do have many maths teachers who enjoy teaching only KS3 and KS4.
We run a range of enrichment activities for students of all ages, including themed weeks, puzzle club, UKMT Maths challenges, house maths challenges and a thriving maths clinic.
Our results have been exceptionally strong in recent years driven by the excellent teaching within the faculty and the positive attitude to learning we foster in our students, and underpinned by our ethos of continuous team improvement in our pedagogy and processes. We are incredibly proud of all that we do in our faculty and would welcome applicants who wish to become part of this dynamic, thriving and inspirational faculty.
We look forward to receiving your application.
