Aboutthe Role
The purpose of this role is to support the Examinations Department in ensuring that all examinations are conducted in accordance with JCQ guidelines, creating and maintaining an environment in which students can achieve their full potential. This is an experienced Exam Invigilator position offered on a zero-hours basis, with working hours dependent on exam schedules. Successful candidates will need to be flexible and available during peak exam periods.
- Supervise and direct students into the examination room according to the seating plan, patrol the room discreetly, maintain awareness of other invigilators, and ensure the correct ratio of students to staff at all times.
- Help students understand and adhere to examination regulations, assist with accurate completion of registers, distribute and collect examination papers and scripts, and support secure delivery and return of materials.
- Supervise the orderly exit of candidates, report incidents, support students with any issues that arise, complete incident logs when required, and work collaboratively within the invigilation team under the direction of the Lead Invigilator, including assisting the Exam Inspector as needed.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate tact and diplomacy when interacting with students and staff, maintaining a calm and helpful approach, particularly under pressure in the examination room. You should work effectively as part of a team, adhere to examination rules, regulations, and school policies, and be firm yet fair while relating well to candidates and maintaining an appropriate air of authority.
Experience of working with young people or in a school environment, as well as prior experience invigilating examinations, is desirable.
