Cloud Computing, Systems Engineer

Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position but will need to frequently attend out Leatherhead office.
Candidate ProfileIn this role, you will provide hands‑on infrastructure and Dev Ops support to an on‑prem cloud platform being delivered for the MOD. You will help design, build, configure, and support infrastructure components that enable legacy applications to be migrated and modernised, ensuring they are secure, resilient, and ready for cloud‑style deployment.
You will take ownership of platform health and continuous improvement, working closely with application teams to enable automation, improve reliability, and meet stringent security requirements. You’ll be supported by experienced colleagues while having the autonomy to influence how the platform evolves.
Key Responsibilities Include- Build & Configure infrastructure and services to support application migrations
- Design & Support infrastructure solutions aligned to platform and migration needs
- Maintain & Secure the platform through patching, monitoring, and vulnerability remediation
- Harden & Protect systems to meet Defence security and compliance requirements
- Automate & Improve deployment and operational processes where possible
- Collaborate & Advise application teams on making workloads cloud ready
You will have strong experience in infrastructure engineering across Windows and Linux environments, with the confidence to support secure, enterprise‑grade platforms. You should be comfortable working across build, configuration, and operational support, and keen to apply automation and Dev Ops practices where appropriate.
Essential Qualifications- You should have strong experience with Microsoft Windows Server architecture
- Proven expertise in Active Directory, GPO, WSUS, and related services
- Solid administration experience with Red Hat, Rocky, or similar Linux distributions
- Experience administering Microsoft Hyper‑V environments
- Strong Power Shell scripting and administration skills
- Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with wider teams
- Dev Ops tooling and practices (e.g. CI/CD pipelines)
- Ansible and/or Jenkins experience
- Veeam backup and recovery solutions
- Azure Stack Hub experience
