Adjunct Instructor - Dual Credit High School — University of Saint Mary

The University of Saint Mary is a Roman Catholic, liberal arts university located in Leavenworth, Kansas, just 25 minutes away from Kansas City. For over 90 years, USM has helped students find meaningful lives and careers through an education that blends the liberal arts and critical thinking with the development of key professional skills. USM serves about 1,400 students at its main campus in Leavenworth, including its satellite locations in Overland Park and Lansing Correctional Facility, as well as online.

Assignments may include daytime in-person teaching following a high school schedule. Instructional areas being sought include:
Biology, chemistry, English, foreign languages, government, history, mathematics, philosophy, physics, psychology, sociology. Application materials for adjunct positions are accepted on an ongoing basis.

• Prepare syllabi and deliver curriculum appropriate for the course assigned;
• Maintain effective and timely student assessment and feedback;
• Manage and foster an inclusive educational environment to serve all learners;
• Understand the needs of high school students enrolled in college-level courses;
• Collaborate with high school instructor for consistency and classroom management;
• Maintain student attendance records in accordance with university policy;
• Submit mid-term and final grades on time;
• Demonstrate professionalism with students, faculty, staff, and administration;
• Complete all required training, including training on Engage LMS.

• Master’s degree or above in discipline or minimum 18 graduate credits in the discipline
• 2-5 years of teaching experience in higher education or secondary level preferred
• Professional written and verbal communication skills;
• Candidates should have an affinity to the mission of the university.
