This position will provide personal financial services at assigned military installations. Full breadth of personal financial counseling services, including education and counseling on a range of financial matters. Services include one-on-one counseling, briefings, presentations, and referrals to outside resources. The counselor works closely with installation and military branch points of contact to ensure program scope and needs are met.
Responsibilities- Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
- Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
- Develop and distribute informational financial materials to service members and families.
- Coordinate, publicize, and deliver a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering the military lifecycle, including pre-and post-deployment and career events outlined in DoDI 1322.34.
- Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication such as web-based, secure online chat, or video-based communications and secure video teleconference, as authorized by the OSD FINRED Program office.
- Manage duty-to-warn situations per Department of Defense protocol.
- Communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision, sharing trends and issues at the assigned installation.
- Serve in regular in-services, training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as appropriate.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; or associate degree plus 4 years’ experience; or high school diploma plus 6 years’ experience.
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
- U.S. citizen and fluent in English.
- Required to be bilingual in English and Spanish if contract demands.
- Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
- Pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
- Must hold one of the following certifications:
Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
$53,125 - $84,995
