.
Job Description for the Occupational Therapist role: evaluates and provides direct student services and consultative services to staff/parents for students eligible for special education evaluations/services.
Responsibilities- Conduct Occupational Therapy screenings according to established state and federal professional standards and procedures.
- Write comprehensive diagnostic evaluations according to established state and federal professional standards and procedures.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team conferences and planning sessions to meet the continuing needs of identified students or those at risk.
- Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for identified students.
- Provide Occupational Therapy services using a variety of service delivery models within a collaborative team to address the fine motor needs of the student.
- Complete documentation through progress notes and quarterly reports that specify student progress on IEP goals and objectives.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and parents to ensure a unified approach to school-related issues.
- Provide training to teachers, parents, instructional assistants, and other related service personnel to support a child’s IEP.
- Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA).
- Serve on district, school, or Occupational Therapy staff committees as appropriate.
- Proactively schedule parent conferences/visits.
- Participate in the general education SIT process.
- Willingness to travel locally using own transportation (mileage reimbursed).
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Other duties as assigned by administration.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Kansas Occupational Therapist License by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts.
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college/university.
- Possession of a valid Kansas driver’s license.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures that mandate and guide occupational therapy practices.
- Ability to interpret evaluation data and write comprehensive reports.
- Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate respectfully and compassionately to a child and their family.
- Ability to document in accordance with professional standards and state and local guidelines.
- High level of professionalism and decorum.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the District Office (after an employment offer is made).
- Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing skills and job performance.
- Experience as an Occupational Therapist in a school setting.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

- Practice responsible fiscal, facility, and resource management.

- Obtain advance approval from the principal for all activities and expenditures.
- Adhere to all District policies and procedures, including the USD
207 Negotiated Agreement. - Adhere to all District health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
